Dyslexia, where they cut down streets and name trees after them
Y'know... often, we the people of suburbia will bash the tenets and facets of our engrossingly subliminal joke of a society... and clearly I'm not saying this is undeserved. I too find this gosh-forsaken heckhole (hehe... Simpsons) to be--well, a gosh-forsaken heckhole, a boring place to call home. But then a realize... just now, I called it home. More yet, I call it home. I was born, raised, live here. Sure, Santa Clarita is a bleak town of minivan-driving soccer-moms and mallrats, but years from now, I'll be glad to have a place to call home. I was here when there were few homes, no mall, and uncrowded schools, and I remember all that. The population always grows at a rate that can't be compensated by the rate of construction, and right now this town is in that unstable transitional period of becoming a city. Just you watch; in a couple decades or so, all LA county suburbia will essentially be extensions of LA itself. Hopefully, home won't seem so boring. Actually if you think about it, that might not even be something we'd want to happen. I just saw "The Family Man" again, can you tell?
I was talking to Sam about this earlier. He told me that he'll never think of SCV the same way ever again... ever since he had to live in Utah. Heh heh... good point. I guess we have it good. Sam and I just played chess at 3 AM. Talk about boredom. :)

Ooh, and I want to recommend that you all see "Shattered Glass" (atm at select theaters in NY and LA), the true story of a habitual liar and a case of journalistic fraud. Hayden Christensen's acting is phenomenal (who would have thought), and you really get lost in the characters and forget it's a movie. Tim and I saw it in Irvine; go see it if you can.

Happy Thanksgiving minna-san! ^_^
My grandparents all came over for Thanksgiving... and of course the first things they notice about me is my height and my having grown out my hair longer than usual... but they all seem to have pointed out that my face looks slimmer. So my parents noted that they all noticed this (I guess my parents didn't cuz they see me every day) and got all worried. So I weighed myself and hey whaddya know... I've lost 9 pounds in the past few months. I told them I lost 8. They freaked, the asian parents that they are, and now they're gonna stare at me as I eat probably. I guess I'm workin' on them "Freshmen 15." Oh well, it's Thanksgiving night, so I've probably already gained some of that back. :)

Lee Harvey Oswald was NOT a male model...
I finally had a weekend I didn't hate. I finally got Mike to watch Zoolander. We met KFI's Bill Handel at the mall (eek! he's bald!). And got to be first non-family people to visit Jen's new apartment! It's in Mountain Terrace in Stevenson's Ranch, on the very frigg'n top of a hill. Nice place, 500 channels of TV. :D
I went to visit my old art class (during class hours this time), so they all were happy to see me... lol, after a while, Jeff got kinda angry that I was distracting all of them from working. He told me Courtney might stop by during the winter, so I hope to run into her sometime then; I haven't seen her since I left the class, a little after graduation.
Well anyhoo, I finally have me shedjooel for next semester:

"[Doniger] quit after six months, telling the director of the lab that 'particle physics is for jerkoffs.'"
My appointment for registration advisement for classes next semester was 9 AM, so once that was over, I had over 3 hours to kill on campus before geography. So I went to the Oviatt Library's second floor lounge with intention to finish reading Timeline and do some research for my speech on marijuana I have to give tomorrow morning. Didn't happen. I fell asleep the whole time. At least now I feel more awake...
Well I'm supposed to register for the spring semester classes tonight at 9 PM with the suggested class list I have in my hand. Assuming they're all still open, I'm taking 15 units and I finally get some goddamn art classes, Drawing and 2D Design, plus Philosophy 200, Psychology 150, and Asian American Studies. I dunno if I want to take AAS, though. I could replace it with a foreign language, of which the only ones I have any interest in are French and Japanese (ASL isn't taught here for GE credit dammit. I'd much rather take ASL. *sigh*). I have 4 hours to make my decision and organize a schedule.
At least I finally got my damn art classes. :)

Anyways, today marked a number of momentous occasions:
*Rush Limbaugh returned to KFI after drug rehab
*Arnold Schwarzenegger was sworn into the office of the governor of the state of California
*the 25th anniversary of the one and only airing of the atrocious Star Wars Holiday Special
*I got kneed hard in the face at Aikido and now I have a bruise
And to celebrate these momentous occasions... we're havin' ribs. :)

Whoever thought there'd be hot chicks in Milwaukee... hehe
I can't believe Jen and Kristal convinced me to go see a goddamn chick flick last night (I wanted to see Master and Commander. Waaah... At least I got to ogle Keira). Eh, but it was ok. Love Actually turned out to be better than I thought, as--without revealing too much of the plot--it didn't end all super ultra happy lovey lovey as romance movies tend to do. In fact, a lot of it was depressing... and there were some hilarious parts too, like when that guy tried to propose in Portuguese. And the little boy escaping airport security, that was just classic.
Anyways, "Garcia Lorca" was incredibly confusing. Why can't plays be straightfoward anymore?

Time cannot be killed... IT WAS MURDERED!
Master and Commander and Elf were sold out because I didn't feel like using Fandango. So I was a mallrat today. Ran into Danielle, who I've not seen since graduation. She's attending a photography college. Ooo, photography. Saw Carreras working his butt off at Panda. So many damn people in line. Oh, and Joanne Hwang and Michelle Demidow were at Grand Palace. Anyways, that was my boring running-into-ppl day. Tomorrow I'm goin to a play, "Garcia Lorca." I hope it's as good as "The Laramie Project" was.

w00t! Second week of August next year, goin to Oahu with Evelyn Kim's family. That's so far away though, and I already miss Hawaii. But anyone who knows me knows that I am the master at killing time. :)
Well, off to Olive Garden in a few min; I'm out.

Today, I am 6,626 days old.
I haven't actually written anything in a while, so here's a little story:
My Aikido instructor came to class with his left big toe all bandaged up. So naturally we asked him, what happened to his toe. So then he told us that he was at Ralphs and some lady ran over his toe with her shopping cart, splitting it open down the middle, immediately bleeding profusely. Hurt like a bitch I'm sure. So then he blew up and yelled at the lady, who then yelled back with no remorse for what she had done, cussing him out. He promptly kicked over her cart. Security arrived and escorted him out.
Hehe, silly sensei.

Speaking of Aikido, we did this one exercise where we got in groups of four. A traffic cone was placed in the middle of the room. One from each group had to protect this cone from the other three, who were either ganging up on the one dude or just going for the cone. No one really succeeded, but it was fun trying.

Cracked open the ol' 2003 yearbook...
Aside from the completely wrong index and my not being listed as either pictured or not pictured (although I am quoted among the picture pages and pictured at the bottom of the not pictured page), it was pretty interesting to read what people had to say to me as I headed off to college, perhaps never to see any of these people again. Let's take a look at some excerpts:

"Bryan Leeeeeeeeeeee" -Mike Miller (btw, that was all he wrote)
"You can't wear high heels at graduation. I'm sorry." -Ryan Cech (damn)
"If you ever need a manwhore sex slave, I'm here for you." -Bill Sauer (thanks Bill)
"Remember Algebra? And Nick K? And spit puddles? And Mr. K? And Pokémon?!? Ahh, good times in 8th grade." -Cassi Murakami (ah, memories)
"It was funny seeing you finish last on all the tests and stuff." -Paul Chung
"Man what's with all the crazy English teachers? I mean Beckham, Jolliffe, and Webb?" -Liz Oh (note how Smith is left out)
"Frolick and play the violin." -Bryan Ju
"I'll always remember my STAB as the guy who is obsessed with grammar." -Brie Simon
"Sorry for bugging you so much in class, but I can't stand Koreans." -John Kim
"You are a cool guy, Bryan. I'd even say you are as cool as TESB itself." -Brittany Asaro (I'm flattered)
"One day I want you to count how many letters are on this page." -Sam Adams (someday, Sam...)
"Alright, let's get to work. I've got a lot to write and I have so little room to do it. (Not to mention I have to outdo my brother)" -Tim Adams (well, you succeeded)

Everything that has a beginning... has an end.
You know what that means... Movie review time! w00t!!!

Ok... Revolutions saw did I. Maybe you did, maybe you didn't, so I'm gonna give you the long and the short of it. The short:
Overall, I feel it had a serious lack of definition, though it did have its moments.

The long:
Revolutions served its main purpose; it concluded the story left behind by Reloaded, tieing up the story of the trilogy. But there were countless loose ends created or left untied. You see, this movie focused on accomplishing two things: the final battle in the real world between man and machine and the fate of humanity trapped in the Matrix. But so much is focused on telling the intricate yet shallow tale of the final battle that the latter is almost entirely left to the imagination. Maybe that side of the story is better left offscreen (it's hard to imagine it otherwise), but in the meantime so many other plot points are thrust in your face without clarification or time to even digest them. And what of the introduced concept of deleted programs fighting to survive from Reloaded? I expected more but it wasn't expanded upon at all, and neither was Penelope and the Merovingian. God forbid the concept wasn't just a way to make new villians... right? The Matrix sequels were a story by themselves apart from the straight and simple original; I ask, were they ever truly necessary?
But aside from the constant state of confusion, Revolutions does deliver, and if it spent too much time on the war in Zion, the time was damn well spent. I mean seriously... that was frigg'n tite-ass. The special f/x were seamless... utterly phenomenal. Almost made up for the lackluster dialogue.
Bottom line: a disappointment, but in a way, well worth it. I'd see it again just for the mech battle. :)

:: Music: Harvey Danger - Flagpole Sitta

The limitless extent of inherently limited human potential
Some of the greatest advancements in innovation, technology, and even how people carry their everyday lives are credited to the substantial efforts of few among many. Often what I feel is that of these many people, those who gaze upon the vast achievements of mankind with a sense of personal pride fail to realize how dependent this system of upward expansion is on the work of the exceptional. In other words, human development relies on unexpected brilliance. These are the men and women to are remembered for leading the human race into the future.

And what of the billions of other people living their lives in the pursuit of happiness or perhaps the fight for survival? Inevitably, they are forgotten; mankind only gives heed to recognize those of accomplishment. However, I am a firm believer in that nothing truly lasts forever. In the great expanse of eons of time, even the greatest of men will be lost to the oblivion of the universe. Perhaps they will fade from memory or perhaps from written record... or perhaps their ultimate disappearance will lie in the end of mankind. There are those who fight to avoid this bleak fate and live their lives to be remembered. It is our obligation to give credit to these people for creating our world and advancing the reaches of humanity.

Perhaps I am wrong and mankind will never die, advancing faster than the universe will fight to destroy him. It's pointless to speculate over an ultimate fate we will never live to see, but for the sake of the possibility of limitless human potential, we should never stop moving forward, and perhaps future generations will appreciate what we've done for them. Or rather I should say... what some of us have done for them. I think that was my original point, right?

Whatever. Hehe. Shit happens.
